When minimum wage was instituted, it was intended that one person working would be able to pay every bill, including a mortgage on that salary. And it did so.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80398165 Quoting: Copperhead Minimum wage NEVER paid for an entire family and a mortgage. Such BS. . Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71043645
Min wage in San Diego was $5.50/hr in 1992. Rents were $200-300/month. Gas was $1.15/gallon and new Toyota pickup was $7,500
Yes, you could pay all your bills Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80709369 Rent in San diego in the early 90s was a median of $611. Thats over 50% of your income if you made minimum wage in 92. Minimum wage was never supposed to be a living wage. Get some roommates...we all did it growing up till we worked our way up the income ladder. You are not special.
