Minimum wage NEVER paid for an entire family and a mortgage.

Min wage in San Diego was $5.50/hr in 1992. Rents were $200-300/month. Gas was $1.15/gallon and new Toyota pickup was $7,500

Yes, you could pay all your bills

Rent in San diego in the early 90s was a median of $611. Thats over 50% of your income if you made minimum wage in 92. Minimum wage was never supposed to be a living wage. Get some roommates...we all did it growing up till we worked our way up the income ladder. You are not special.

I was in gated community on Lake Murray for $375/month in 1992

Hillcrest near downtown and North Park had rents of $200-300
