In 30 years the min wage went up 50% but cost of things went up 300-700%

I have a friend who manages a grocery store in a large grocery chain. One year there were thousands of workers in town building a new plant for a different company. These thousands of workers increased his bottom line significantly. But once they were gone, his boss's attitude was that he must experience zero drop in profits, even though he just lost thousands of customers.
