The world isn't in condition to fight a world war anytime this year. The motivations and sentiment isn't there, especially among the general populace.

Rather, if a massive world war were to start, it would take the form of a world civil war. If the food situation is as dire as some people like to make it out to be, that could be somewhat likely. Once started, it could easily cascade across much of the world: the authority of all governments being loosely tied together by general public perception of that authority.
