Lake Monsters in the Great Lakes?
A shit load of people saw big ass sea serpents in the Great Lakes over the last century.

Granted many of the sea serpents people reported back in the 1900s might have been to promote an area lake or bump circulation of newspapers… there seem to be too many to be all hoaxes.

Some of the lake monster reports came from reliable sea farers and we’re consistent across decades. Interesting to think what could be lurking in the deep recesses off the Great Lakes!

I've seen fish around 20 feet long in the great lakes. Can't catch them though. Someone told me they're sturgeons.
I've tried to catch them on a baited hook, they swim on by. Just go for a row in a dinghy on a calm day. Eventually you'll see tails and fins floating out of the water.

Anyone else see those? Can confirm what they are?

The late Ted Holiday wrote two excellent treatises on the phenomenon: The Dragon and the Disc and The Goblin Universe. In the first book he held a rather beneficent view of these lake monsters, but as he researched more deeply, he came to the same conclusions in his second book that researchers such as the late John Keel and myself reached: that these are manifestations of evil, and not to be trifled with.

One thing that he emphasized regarding these manifestations: they were often observed in bodies of water that were far too small to support or accommodate them. Much in the samecway as the food needs of a breeding population of Sasquatch could not be supported in many areas where they are seen, so it is with lake monsters; both are ephemeral, and likely interdimensional.

Both books are out of print, but I believe that they are available on Kindle. Get hold of the second book if you can get only one.

Sturgeon can grow to be quite sizeable and are incredibly long lived, as in more than 100 years.

They aren't "caught", they're harvested during a limited spearing season during the winter. Lake Winnebago, a bit west of Lake Michigan, sees a lot of traffic for spearing season.

Not sure about any 20 footers, but well over 10-12 feet still happens. They don't have any real predators to deal with once they reach a certain size.

Re: Lake Monsters in the Great Lakes?
Giant Sturgeon in the lakes.
I don't know about 20 foot long ones, that would be extremely big.

I've seen 7 foot Sturgeon in fairly small streams before tho. You catch them by sight, see em and float the bait into their mouths basically.

Maybe they can get massive out in the lakes but don't think I have ever even heard of one that was 20 foot long, pretty sure I would remember that.

And they don't really go up on the surface, they're basically bottom feeders.

I believe that is a case of a certain type of eel unique to that lake.

The great lakes have Burbot but they don't really grow past 4 foot at most, hard to mistake them for a giant lake monster.
Also the lakes did get invaded by Sea lampreys but those are just small parasitic creatures that latch into fish in the lakes.

Sturgeon have to be the culprits, they're probably the biggest fish you can catch in those lakes.

There are other things though.

Submarines transporting drugs, guns, people, or other illicit things across the border from Canada or into Canada.
About 20 years ago before the legalization of certain drugs and easy availability it was well known that drugs were being brought into the US from Canada that way.

For all those saying sturgeon … that doesn’t explain most of the sightings of 40 foot serpents.

We have seen 5ft carp in the Grand Calumet River here in Northwest Indiana. Hardly anyone fishes in there because of the pollution. I won't fish it because of the pollution. I caught a 3ft 3in carp at the Wolf Lake channel years ago. I believe there are some monsters fish in the great lakes.

Strange that I chose to wear my Nessie baseball cap today...

I think those monsters are in lots of large fresh water lakes.

There is Champy who hangs out in Lake Champlain.

IT'S A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT THE LITTLE FISH HANG CLOSE TO SHORE BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THEY'RE THE SAFEST.

As to what is down below 100 or more feet, well, lets just say that when you're in any body of water that are a few miles across or more, you're on something elses turf.

A story was told to me by a friend back in the 70's about a diver that was doing work under the Atlantic ocean that saw something while under water that turned his hair completely white and made him unable to speak or communicate for the rest of his life. Scared him senseless apparently.

I myself have seen a glowing eel as a kid that freaked me out pretty bad. At that time, I didn't even realize that such creatures even existed.

I dunno, but my grandmother showed me a newspaper clipping from the 1940's when I was a kid of a mermaid that washed up dead on a California beach. I still remember its teeth and how evil it looked! It was very small, less than 2 feet long. But it was real and had long black hair.
