I always took that song as a warning. Now I think it may have been subliminal programming to promote Californication.
Dream of Californication
They repeat that over and over. Looking back, it's very much like the movie They Live if the song was meant to be subliminal programming.
GLP started in 1999 (the same year that song was released), and the things mentioned in that song are right out of GLP.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83737306 Its all subliminal OP. You must be young. Quoting: TheRealRebel These are writing credits for that song: All tracks are written by Red Hot Chili Peppers (Flea, John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith). [ link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)] The whole album was produced by only Rick Rubin. That's five people involved enough to affect the message. Who are you blaming? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83737306 Blaming? all songs are subliminal OP. i guess I`m blaming you for starting the thread. Quoting: TheRealRebel If a song has a subliminal message, it doesn't happen by accident. It has to be planned. Making allegations without evidence doesn't help anyone. Again, who are you blaming for putting the subliminal message in the "Californication"? What is the main subliminal message in the song in your opinion? These are writing credits for that song: All tracks are written by Red Hot Chili Peppers (Flea, John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith).
