Was it just the influence of Hollywood with the valley girl accent originating right next to Hollywood? I am asking because I am watching the video embedded below. The three guys in this video all have distinct, classic valley girl accents. It cheapens the seriousness of the topic. Why did the valley girl accent become dominant in English?
