I think there's a possibility that bonds will throw everyone a curveball. People think since the economy is failing that rates will have to move down again, but there's a factor in interest rates that most people never think about, and that's the risk aversion of the lenders. 2019 was a case in point, where there was no shortage of reserves, and yet for some yet to be disclosed reason the banks wouldn't lend to each other, causing the overnight rate to shoot up to 10%. That little blip isn't given nearly the attention it deserves because something huge hit the fan and was subsequently swept under the rug. I think it might have been commercial MBS and or early knowledge of covid, but that's just speculation on my part, educated guess at best. In any case, something spooked them hardcore at the top, and when the big bulls ran the rest of the herd stampeded after them.

Anyways, people expecting rates to move down just because there's a recession might find themselves disappointed, and bonds might just keep on moving down with assets. If the banks have major liquidity issues, meaning low reserves, and they're extremely risk averse on top of that, we could see a new paradigm in terms of the idea that bonds are a safe haven when stocks are crashing.
