Well, the states are not exactly "united". Perhaps a better name would be the 'States of America, Below Canada and Above Mexico'. But that is rather wordy...

How dumb does a populace need to be to not even know then name of the country they live in?

So if I asked them what country they are from they will tell me the Continent they are from instead….

No, they would say "America" and there is no continent of "America".

The idiocracy bothers me. And ironically, I just watched the newest episode of Beavis and Butthead last night.

But who I really feel sorry for are the people from Central America.

Their region isn't a country nor a continent and everyone just sees them as Mexican.

Mexico is Central America, along with Panama, Belize, and a few others. Just sayin.

United State of the UNION of America actually, United as a union of states.
In other words, we are not a regular country we are a UNION, and the People are the ones at the core of this Union. We are not like Communist USSR Union, they also were a union but they did it by force, we did it by asking and they joined the Union and agreed to have a republic form of the constitution with the BILL OF RIGHTS signed and sealed. Right now, some of the states of the Union are in breach of their agreements for sure about the BILL OF RIGHTS.

United States is a UNION not like other countries it is a UNION of states United together each state is separate in and it has different constitutions facts matter no matter if a group had not joined as of that writing. So, the constitution lays this out about what the United States of America is in which it is a UNION. A Republic Union of States for all had to make those constitutions to join.
