I mean, I'm pretty conservative, and I believe there were always legitimate reasons for an honest doctor to terminate a pregnancy if the mother were ill or dying.

In old westerns, there were times when a doctor told the father: "I can only save the mother or the baby."

The husband had to make a choice, consider the choice his wife would make, and so on.

But I have always been against the commercializing of abortion and its promotion, and any abortions that didn't threaten the life of the mother. There was always adoption for unwanted babies, so there was no need for so many vain abortions.

If it had just continued as a medical procedure when a woman was brought to the hospital dying, few would object.
