The Sahara desert 8% of land came up being the largest hot desert. Third behind Antarctica and arctic.

The scientists say it alternated between lush and desert every 20,000 years. The cycle between dry and green. They say the axis tilt drives monsoons which cause the lush green landscape. I recall the lush green past found within Antarctica as well.
