You are a dumbass. Oil companies do not control the price of oil, the market does. Oil companies have their operating costs and if the price of oil goes up, they make more money for the commodity that they produce. The same can be said for anyone that produces a commodity, like miners, farmers, refineries, etc.

The oil and gas companies don't set the prices - OPEC does. Also, people are getting out now more than ever after being on lockdown for 2 years.

OPEC doesn't even set prices. The market sets prices. OPEC sets supply output which can influence prices.
