She's someone who got locked into an age where she was sexually molested as it somehow has her believing that she is innocent and therefore, not responsible for what happened to her.

When she snaps out of it, in her real life, she is either a failure and therefore doesn't want to take the responsibility the same for where life has led her OR she's very successful at her everyday job and can't take the pressure anymore for the same reasons of repressed damage from youth.
