Just heard on blowing its horn, bit late for that. Idk if doing work on trackside they will blow horn for workers.

you know strikes anywhere leave commercial and gov buildings empty for a day or more

how convenient for access by the enemy

that might have been what it actually was. It's the truth behind silent military helicopter myth. They aren't. They just fly them late and close to train tracks, then in and out of the dense pop zones. Almost no one notices loud and tremulous where its expected. The few that do get ignored.

It's a freight train, if you are standing on a platform when one goes past you almost get blown away by the gust of wind they produce.

My. Daughter's partner Jim my granddaughter Grace's dad used to be a part time fireman at the station in the town we only live in a rural village the station has two Dennis tenders and a Land Rover kitted out to tackle fires that occasionally break out on the fell (Heather bracken and grass fires) there are no full time staff. The station in Stanhope is on the A689 road. The station in 1978 was fitted with a Radiation detector as was every station in the country, this was not portable but was fitted in the office with an array of sensors. Around 1984 the radar detector would set off always early hours between 1am and 4am no pattern any day usually a month apart it was checked recalibtrated swapped for a different unit sensors replaced several times. Every time it went off meant someone was called out, the fire service contacted the Ministry of Defence and they denied moving radioactive loads around although the loads were moved primarily at night they did not use the A689 they used the M6 or A68 up to Faslain in Scotland.

Early 90's the whole system was removed from the station as it was too troublesome the Ministry of Defence had no such problems anywhere else in the country.

The only conclusion to this tale is that this whole area is a mining hotspot I think Radon gas emissions are seeping into the village although there are no significant increase in lung cancer sufferers in the area.

I often wonder whether or not things are moved about at night regarding nuclear fuels and such, for example in Stanhope we have a Ministry of Defence contractor Blairs Foundry they work 3 shifts

Your strike is most likely transportation only, not freight. That keeps it's own schedule. Now that the tracks are clear and stations are deserted, they may well up the speed regulations.
If I remember, UK transit station speed for freight it 25kph whereas on the open is 90?
