The way it was explained to me by a black guy living in the Twin Cities: African Americans in Minneapolis don't like Somalis. There've been numerous brawls between the 2 groups - I guess maybe because the 'African Americans' are jealous of how African the Somali are and also because the Somali ancestors weren't American slaves yet cling to that status of being oppressed in American history.

I grew up in Minnesota. Back then,in the 70’s, there were very few foreigners, mainly college exchange students.
Everyone else was white. In the twin cities there were blacks and Latinos, but not so many.
Then the Vietnam war ended and the cia brought in a lot of Hmong and Laos people’s.
The 80’s brought in more. The 90’s you started to see the African nations arrive. That flow never stopped. More and more they flowed in to the state, now there’s tens of thousands of African people in Minnesota.

The powers that be took the most stoic state and turned it into a shithole…I’ll never go back…..
