Actually, it's only 729 Million dollars. The deposit only has 12.5 tonnes of gold and the going rate is currently at 1814.27$/troy oz.

Sadly this is unlikely to benefit any of the general populous and only enrich the elite of Uganda.

Things are beginning to make sense now.
My daughter attends a British international (we are expats living in Thailand). A few weeks ago she came home and told me they are learning about Uganda and how terrible child and female sex trafficking is there.....and the govt are in on it!
They were asked to do some fundraising and discuss awareness campaign ideas etc.
It smelled like bullshit to me. Why Uganda? I told my daughter (she is 13) to follow the money. Who benefits from having British kids perpetuating these stories. How do we know they are true? Trafficking happens all around the world so why are they shining a light on Uganda? A place most of us couldn't point out on a map?

I guess we should go in an save all those trafficked kids and women. It's a humanitarian crisis donchynaknow!

That is barely a blip. The guy who says 12.5 trillion dollars, lilely misread or whoever was translating made a major misquote/error (happens all the time).
