Fossil petroleum comes from plant matter like algae settling on the bottom of bodies of water and decaying. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83784018 You simply have a childlike understanding of the issue. so why do they dig wells 200 miles deep how does plant life go that deep? |

Which is also BULLSHIT. So you are telling me Titan, et al, have massive amounts of decaying plant life? Yea In addition. Oil is lighter than water, tell me how you get oil pockets at 40k feet below the surface, thousands of feet below water tables... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30753304 Yes. Tesla understood the mechanism here. The real energy in terms of magnitudes of energy comes in the sun's solar winds in the form of charged hydrogen ions. Those ions can get trapped in the ionosphere's electrical fields and corresponding magnetic fields. Then there is a net charge of electricity between the ionosphere and earth's surface. It is in effect a gigantic capacitor with the earth's atmosphere acting as the dielectric medium. When the charge in/on a region of the ionosphere becomes large enough to overcome the resistance of the dielectric, a discharge (lighting) occurs between the ionosphere and the ground's surface. Where does that electricity go from there? I believe it flows to the core of the planet. So you have this radial supply of electrical energy to the core of the planet creating a sustained plasma reaction. Probably an iron plasma reaction. That plasma reaction produces by-products including hydrocarbon chains (oil and nat gas) and primary water (pure h2o) So, in effect, Tesla just punched a hole through the dielectric, most likely a laser, and created a flow of electricity from the ionosphere to the tower where he then tried to power the nearby town's electrical grid and overloaded it. That's all free power we could be using right now. The technology has existed for over 100 years. see this is what i love its all about energy Yah and rates. Because even though the earth produces hydrocarbon chains we may be consuming more that it produces. Which isn't good either. Other forms of generating power exist, thorium salt reactors are another possible energy source. The energy returned over energy invested ratio of a thorium nuclear reaction is over 100. That's enough to meet all our current power needs and produce synthetic hydrocarbon chains distilled to diesel and gasoline. Cold fusion is another alternative high density energy source that works and has been repeatedly reproduced in several labs globally. |

To me, it looks like liquid coal but is much thinner. I believe that coal is from plants that were down underground. Think about tar pits, it also looks similar to coal. See, billions and kajillions of dinos and plants died a millions years ago and they all lived deep underground and this is how they find lots of oil in giant encapsulated pockets when they drill super deep like miles, like deep water horizon! Underground dinosaur forests!! Or there is a better explanation. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77704690 United States 07/04/2022 02:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Infinite in terms of our human lives, yeah to a point. That point is where we are consuming more oil than the earth can replenish. So then maybe our population would decrease 99% because of the mistake and then the earth could replenish the reservoirs of oil. That's basic physics, you can't take out more than is coming in forever, only as long as there is enough volume stored. Beyond that volume then the system will shut down. then why lie to me that dinosaurs mand oil to just profit? Old science... preached as truth... some things the masses just cant handle... a method of control HAH, what peasant. this was always known. AGAIN YOU STOOPID PEASANTS, billionaires operate on supply demand principles. if you have infinite resource, then make up a lie, then profit. why you degenerates think Rcokerfellas were given billions to monopolize oil?!! Carbon is literally INFINITE on any planet, Carbon and Oxygen make up 90% of any planet mass. 1 and 4, H and He is star material and is 90% of 90%, and HE is 4x3 = CARBON, 4x4 = OXYGEN. NOTE, STUPID PEASANTS, that Oxygen is TWICE more common because there is no 4x2, for it always becomes 4x4. |

Actually I believe the theory goes that during the Carboniferous era it turned (eventually) to oil because it didn't decay. It wasn't until bacteria had evolved a mechanism to break down cellulose or lignin that plants could decay fully. |
