Well, the Bible wasn't written chronologically in a year or so...The Bible is a collective of works written over literally hundreds if not thousands of years. So hmm...dismiss it all as bigoted..ok.

However, to your original question...we've had the acceptance of "gay" shoved so hard down our throats that they do an entire month of "Pride" in June. These people strip naked in the streets, and nobody is arrested for indecent exposure. Since when does a public parade mean we can prance around naked or in kink gear? It's gross. Even if you were straight and did it, it's gross. That's how most "normal" people view this crap. Throughout the late 80's and 90's...most of us really didn't care if you were ghey. Fully half of the people I know through work and grew up with...are ghey, but that doesn't mean I want to live that lifestyle or have my kids exposed to it in school when they are 5. No thanks. What you are NOW experiencing is that most of us have had ENOUGH. Prior to 2015 or so...I was perfectly fine to live and let live, just leave me alone. I didn't need to know.
