Anonymous Coward User ID: 82516818 Mexico 07/05/2022 11:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I honestly don't know why anyone would want to live in a desert urban area. Quoting: Lady Jane Smith A small town? maybe, but the desert is just so inhospitable, and the carrying capacity of the land is so low. Not for me, but to each his own. I will admit, it is beautiful on a full moon night. WHY? because its cheap! where else can you get an apartment for $600/month? You cannot get an apartment for 600 a month in Phoenix area. If you did find such a unicorn, you’d be in gangland territory with bedbugs and roaches. |

A lot of these homeowners have water trucked in, but many cities won't sell water if it will be trucked out of city limits. as the supply drys up, look for those that control water to circle the wagons. Quoting: CharlieFoxtrot what happens to your property value when there is zero affordable water available? humans get very smug with their clever engineering, not sure how they're going to engineer their way out of this one. [link to www.newyorker.com (secure)] “All the low-hanging fruit has been picked, water-wise. There is a second tier of water resources—it exists. But they are significantly more expensive than the existing water supply. Water prices that seem expensive right now will probably seem reasonable in ten years. There’s going to be a lot of outrage.” Last year, Maricopa County added more residents than any other county in the country. “Well, yeah, it’s because they’re issuing building permits with no water,” Nabity said. “We are building way beyond our means.” “Who’s gonna spend five hundred ninety-five thousand dollars for a house with no water?” This is not exactly true. I live in Peoria AZ. There is plenty of water to meet current needs and they have banked in underground storage enough water to serve the whole city for 5 years on that supply alone. Without doing water restrictions. Another factor is the pollution of the ground water with toxic chemicals. These can be removed and that water source used, but it is costly and all they are looking for (and talking about) is cheap water sources. So it is not really about not having any water, but about having a cheap source of water. Most of the problems are from city councils that spent their money on other projects, rather than planning on providing water to their communities in case of an extended drought. |

King of World User ID: 81589392 Canada 07/05/2022 01:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm a deep skeptic about climate change. However, I have something relevant, of current events,(aside from a tallboy can of strong beer being cheaper than pop and even bottled water), some pertinent observation which is very concerning to me, in direct relation to water shortage, and climate/habitat dysfunction. Much went on in environment, solar, celestial combined with biological forces and human, that if you try to discern what it ought to be, with only people's doings, it's already an impossible mess that may possibly be in a rolling state of Flux or degeneration for biological habitat, and there's no telling how much and what effect we really have. Regardless, I live in the middle of the great lakes, sw ontario. BEEN frequent outdoors 51 yes, and in brief, this is the QUINTESSENTIAL (for me), defining moment when this frog noticed the pots really getting a rolling boil on. That having a home reno job most my adult life, I can say there's "NO DEW ANYMORE". NONE. lawn Gras was always drenched all year, cause I was always a pain in the ass soaking my boots, and getting trampled walking across it. Woke up and lived outside 1 1/2 yes. Now. There's not just little dew. It's so dry there's none at all that I've seen, and BTW I'm in city so maybe sprayed, but sleeping outside, I only got a couple skeeter stings and they disappeared weakly fast. |

Seen forest mushrooms yesterday which means another epic year. Climate change is bullshit. Quit modifying the weather and then let's talk about it. |

They want the oil in the Rockies, they already have a 25mile underground base in Colorado, they have plenty of tunnels to scurry about and traffic children, they have nevada underground complex (area 51 type stuff), many MIL bases setup, shipping ports, Hawaii, Midway, etc etc. People need to get their war paint out. Last Edited by Scorched on 07/05/2022 01:23 PM They have us completely surrounded...those poor bastards |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79833388 They've got two problems - distance and elevation to pump the water up. That's also why the Great Lakes isn't a great option because of both distance and the height to reach the west coast, which is fortunate since otherwise they'd already be draining them. |
