Quoting: Stumpknocker It broke my heart to leave a home I custom built for my family. With the mayor of Tucson (closest city to us) going full on libtard and the writing on the wall, it was time to go. I heard a rumor that they had to redrill the wells around Tucson down to 1400 ft from 1175. Within the next year, we will see property values plummet across the deep SW US. From Vegas south to the border. In Tucson, our aquifers are chock full because of the aqueduct and always have been. It hasn't rained but a drizzle in a year and the sonoran desert is still green. I get what you mean about the libtard mayors. It's awful but they lay pretty low which is a good thing. It's all fun & games until the Dogman stands up Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit! What a ride!" In times of trouble, I ask myself, "What would Sarah Conner do?" |

User ID: 35509688 United States 07/05/2022 03:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was told by an engineer co-worker back in the late 90’s about wealthy oil families buying up aquifers in the southwest and California. "A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." Marcus Tullius Cicero |

A lot of these homeowners have water trucked in, but many cities won't sell water if it will be trucked out of city limits. as the supply drys up, look for those that control water to circle the wagons. Quoting: CharlieFoxtrot what happens to your property value when there is zero affordable water available? humans get very smug with their clever engineering, not sure how they're going to engineer their way out of this one. [link to www.newyorker.com (secure)] “All the low-hanging fruit has been picked, water-wise. There is a second tier of water resources—it exists. But they are significantly more expensive than the existing water supply. Water prices that seem expensive right now will probably seem reasonable in ten years. There’s going to be a lot of outrage.” Last year, Maricopa County added more residents than any other county in the country. “Well, yeah, it’s because they’re issuing building permits with no water,” Nabity said. “We are building way beyond our means.” “Who’s gonna spend five hundred ninety-five thousand dollars for a house with no water?” The spice must flow! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79833388 They've got two problems - distance and elevation to pump the water up. That's also why the Great Lakes isn't a great option because of both distance and the height to reach the west coast, which is fortunate since otherwise they'd already be draining them. Try telling that to the flat erfers hereabouts. |

Quoting: Sal Monella Oh you idiot…are you a Cochise county supervisor by any chance? The water table is dropping 30ft/year here in the border More agricultural wells have gone in at over 1000ft in the last year than in the last decade Foreign countries are here growing hay to ship home because there’s NO REGULATIONS on agricultural wells here. NONE. I’d say they’re stealing our water except it’s really the politicians who have sold us out. The county supervisors have fought hard against metering ag wells and they will approve any commercial permits for just a handjob Don’t drill here bruh |
