Ah, that’s sad but he did the duty he was born for. Roosters are so feisty, and chickens in general do have unique personalities.

When Jesus said "the meek shall inherit the earth" He used the same Greek word that is used to describe Moses... so not a weak form of meekness, but a strong one, able to stand ground, protect and save people, full of self control and aware of his power, humble before God

Sorry for your loss. We lost one a few years back the same way. His replacement isn't nearly the same... Just noisier.

Elvis was a good rooster, like I said. He will be missed.
We have an egg incubator and just today some of his offspring hatched! So Elvis lives on!

I am sure some of these that hatched are male chickens so we will keep one or two and raise them up.
Will have to keep an eye out for coyotes and keep the 22 handy.
