I have a really hard time believing many of the modern science so called discoveries. I think about half of all discoveries in astronomy and physics are nothing more than heavily lobbied inferences. Or just outright frauds like detecting gravity waves. Another of my favorites is neutron stars, that are inferred and mathematicalized to be made of all neutrons.
