That conflict finished and almost immediately afterwards it's about Russia now. They always need a bad guy to side track people on. Tyrants thrive in war and troubles, not in peace.

Plus Ukraine is a cesspool for their underhanded criminal activities. They don't want that stuff coming to light.

The involvement in Ukraine is all about money laundering and exploiting corruption.
