I'm here, too! Just found out the house we want dropped another $10,000 tonight. We can finally afford it! Now, we need to bid 1st thing in the morning.

Guys, pray or think good thoughts, PLEASE!! It's a totally rebuilt house and it's perfect. I really need to get settled soon. Day to day is getting tough. I'm afraid dialysis can't be put off much longer.

Oh, Jazz? DM is just taking a break from the doom. I txtd her about a month ago.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

I hope your bid is successful, TB, fingers and toes crossed.

Hey you!! Good to see you!

That one didn't work. We tried 10 ways to Sunday, but it was just too much out of our comfort zone.

That's ok. It's contingent now and I wish the new owners well, even if I really, REALLY wanted that kitchen!!

We have a couple of others to look at this week that are much closer in line with what we want to pay and not end up being "house poor".

It's my personal opinion based on analysis of posts and comments from both the both far-right and far-left. It's no longer just a difference of political ideology; each side actively hates the other and believes violence is required to "save America" from the other side.

This mid-term election will be an early indicator, and the 2024 election will most likely be the final straw. I'm not going to try to predict an exact date because I don't believe in that crap, but I think there will be an incident, initially just another news story, that will end up being the trigger for widespread violence across the country. I don't know what it will be, but it will result in violent protests that will make the summer of 2020 look like a town hall meeting.

What sucks is it will start with political extremists, but will spread to include people who do not think violence is the solution. They will be forced to use violence to defend themselves or perish. Thus, it will become a self-sustaining reaction.

I hope I'm wrong. But I've been watching political extremists on both sides since the rise of the Tea Party, and I've never seen so many people so riled up and actively calling for violence against the opposition. We're not talking about your usual nut cases who are exceptions to the rule; we're talking about otherwise law-abiding, rational people who have become so blinded by the political rhetoric that they have lost their ability for rational thought.

I am honestly very afraid for this country right now. Raffette and I are actually working on a contingency plan to permanently leave the United States if it gets too bad. That's how concerned we are about this.

We've got a couple of years, and maybe something huge will happen that causes people to reunite as Americans, allowing everyone to step back from the edge. But I'm not optimistic.
 Quoting: Riff-Raff

We are looking into other countries as well. Problem is if you are older, they don't want us! They all want an investment of $700,000 and MORE into the country if you want to relocate there.

I really don't even know where to even begin to look. Everyplace has it's negatives: unstable governments, drug cartels, high crime, zero human rights. Where is there to escape to?

Six inches of rain and climbing.

Got the trash pumps running to try and prevent water from flooding the house.

Started just before midnight on Saturday and has not let up since.

Forecast is we might get a total of 8 inches before it finally moves out of here.

Fingers crossed...

prep drill completed. 2 hours power outage.

filled over 125 gall water in 1st 10 mins. battery radio. no news and traffic sounded normal from town. can't b wide spread. coulda filled another 150 gall of water. if was needed. due to how long repairs take nowadays, i did monitor the water pressure. had it dropped indicating issues farther out, i woulda filled more.

nice calm drill.

Russia ‘Not Discussing’ Mass Military Mobilization, Kremlin Says

Russia is not planning to declare a mass national draft for the war in Ukraine, the Kremlin said Tuesday.

Lawmaker Mikhail Sheremet, a member of the State Duma’s Security Committee and the ruling United Russia party, spoke out in favor of general mobilization on Monday, according to the URA.ru news agency.

“Without full mobilization, [without] switching to the war mode, including the economy, we will not achieve the desired results,” the agency quoted Sheremet as saying.

Not coin shortage related but reminded me of it. We had a hard time getting quarters in Colorado last fall to do laundry.

Thanks Guythu.

I was wondering. It's gotten quiet here. Coal gets delivered here by ships on the lake and then loaded onto trains. We also have Amtrak that stops here.

I have thought this was coming for some time, just watching all the houses that came on the market in the next county over. There is a major RR town about an hour from here. The houses started being sold late spring/early summer. At first I thought it was landlords selling off, but there are still many houses for sale down there.
