First off, don’t get me wrong. This is a solid idea given the circumstances, although it’s crazy that they allowed themselves to be put into this situation.

Secondly, it’s mind blowing to see countries essentially being thrown back to the stone ages while retaining while some modern conveniences.

Firewood rationing in 3... 2...
 Quoting: Riff-Raff

most don't have a clue how much firewood it will take to make it to spring. even ppl who burn wood, use a furnace at night or when they are not home. and nowadays, outside wood stoves use electricity to move the heat into the houses. fireplaces send most of the heat up the chimney.

i saw a show years ago where they took 3 groups and had them live like colonial ppl in log cabins. they did this for the warm months. then what they had accomplished was used to estimate how long they could survive the winter. even the cpl that stocked the most firewood by cutting and trading wouldn't make it to March. the amount of firewood is astounding that was used in colonial days.

granted we have insulation now. but we have higher ceilings and dead space. even preppers aren't building homes to b more efficient. and they have chainsaws and splitters. without the tools, ppl won't b able to cut enuf firewood between winters. very few may have figured this in to their prepping and stocked for 5 years.
