My nephew works there and was too near the explosion. He's ok, though.

Thread: Huge fire at Bp Refinery in Ohio

Also, BP doesn't own it anymore. My brother said a Canadian company bought it.

I don’t know.
I did a Google search and found that site after TB said she didn’t have a “bingo card”.

Just everyone knows..there were no actual digital bingo cards until I created it.

First off, don’t get me wrong. This is a solid idea given the circumstances, although it’s crazy that they allowed themselves to be put into this situation.

Secondly, it’s mind blowing to see countries essentially being thrown back to the stone ages while retaining while some modern conveniences.

We've had some close calls like that, too. Thankfully, we haven't gotten crunched yet.

One thing I've noticed is people are truly acting like zombies. They just stare straight ahead and push right through even when there's not a soul in their direction but me! At first, I didn't think too much about it, but it's happening at least once, every time we're out. I think I'm not going to move out of the way next time and see what happens.

I don't know why people are doing this, but they can't be watching where they're going. I wonder if they'll run into me with their cart?

Just got back from the dealership -- $9800.00 in damage, and that is assuming they do not find any other damage to the cameras, sensors or exhaust system when they remove the bumper.

Thank God for insurance.

Wow, that sucks. Texas must have some strange insurance laws. In Indiana, neither party is allowed to leave the scene of an accident before providing proof of insurance to the other driver or a police officer. If they don't have insurance, that driver is placed 100% at fault for the accident and it's an automatic six months driver's license suspension.

Make no mistake, the EU leaders who created this mess will be well fed, warm and toasty.

Russia is perfectly willing to sell fuel, but payment is only accepted in rubles, or gold. Rubles are not exactly difficult to acquire on the foreign exchange markets.

These "sanctions" have only served to drive up fuel prices for Western countries, while at the same time, Vlad is enjoying record profits on Russian fuel. China and India are more than happy to take the supply the EU is snubbing.

SMH. All our countries have morans in leadership.

You are required to have insurance in Texas. She immediately moved her vehicle back into her parking space. I will be attempting to call the number she gave me today to ask for the name of an insurance company, but do not have high hopes of the number being correct, or if I get her, getting any info, or accurate info.

After pulling into her space, she jumped out of her car, phone in hand. I suspect she was also on her phone when this happened, as I don't have my phone in hand when driving; hell, it is typically buried somewhere in the bottom of my purse.

She is also Hispanic -- meaning there is a decent chance she is illegal. If so, that means no drivers license, and no insurance.

If she is uncooperative on the phone call, or the number is fake, I will be making a police report.

Damn it! I was parked in the south 40, a long walk to the store entry. Why was she back there with her beater? The only people who park in the south 40 are luxury cars, high end sports cars, or very shiny pick-up "babe magnet" trucks. IOW, they all park there for the same reason I do, to avoid damage from bad drivers.

firewood won't work for every building thou. i doubt there is enuf cut and split to supply many. if this is the best their govern. can do, the ppl are in trouble.

even here in the rural hills of PA-NY, u couldn't support the small towns with firewood. businesses aren't set up with chimneys or stoves. our construction style is wrong. we build stupid. we build with high ceilings and huge open space. not efficient for heating.

mayb overseas is different. here, we couldn't heat way less than 10% of houses with wood if needed. businesses still would need NG. this attempt does nothing except make the govern. sound like they are doing something. will they hand out small boxes of cereal next to prevent ppl from starving? or hand out cups so everyone can catch rain water?

it sux and is 1 of my great concerns. ppl in the US live in high rise buildings. if the electricity went off in winter, ppl will die. millions within a week. furnaces need electricity to function. without it, they won't work no matter what fuel is supplied. ppl will freeze long before they run out of food.

They won't have water either. It takes a pump to get water above the, I think, 3rd floor ... or maybe it is the 5th, but you get my point.

The urban "sophisticates" will be in a world of hurt, and people in nearby small towns will need everything they have to take care of their own. There will be no space A for people who, up until now, looked down on anyone who did not live in an urban shithole.

i saw a show years ago where they took 3 groups and had them live like colonial ppl in log cabins. they did this for the warm months. then what they had accomplished was used to estimate how long they could survive the winter. even the cpl that stocked the most firewood by cutting and trading wouldn't make it to March. the amount of firewood is astounding that was used in colonial days.

granted we have insulation now. but we have higher ceilings and dead space. even preppers aren't building homes to b more efficient. and they have chainsaws and splitters. without the tools, ppl won't b able to cut enuf firewood between winters. very few may have figured this in to their prepping and stocked for 5 years.

how do i put this? we all know world govern's work together. and much of what we see and hear is just for show. ppl are nothing more than pieces on a board game to the elites.actions speak louder than words. no action in the days and months prior to Russia invading Ukraine speaks loudly.

the war looks to b cover for the many shortages that are inbound. 1 small nation's supply of food should not cause the entire world to starve or have high prices. the # of issues with food processors is beyond normal. watch the left hand and blame Russia. this way u don't see the right hand and we have troubles due to ppl dying of covid and vax.

we know better. look at the rhetoric- covid is over. Russia invades and caused all this trouble- food shortage, energy shortage, no fertilizer, and factories shutting down. if u take Russia out of the equations, all that was happening before due to lack of workers and supply of materials.

by increasing the prices of materials and end goods, things are used up slower. this buys more time for govern's to come up with a fix to the mess we are in. or more time for them to develop AI to replace more workers. where are all the comp chips going?

lot of what we see is smoke and mirrors to keep the public from seeing the true reality.

We purchased the most efficient insert that would fit into our fireplace. Once it gets hot enough, a catalytic combustor kicks in, increasing the heat output. Almost zero smoke makes it through the chimney to the outside. As long as we have electricity to run the insert blower and the furnace blower, it will circulate heat throughout the entire house. If we lose electricity, we can live in the basement where the fireplace is located. I won't know until this winter how much wood it takes to get us through 24 hours, but based on my research, it won't be a lot.

RIFF, do u have a moisture tester for the firewood? u most likely know this, but i don't want to assume wrong. those inserts require very dry wood. from what i have heard, 20% or dryer. most wood that has been cut and split a year or so ago will work. otherwise, the stoves with the insert tubes are hard to light and are less efficient.

those new efficient stoves are great if ppl have wood cut a year or 2 ahead. not so much if ppl are cutting in summer for the next winter thou.

It's something I've been considering picking up because they're not that expensive, but I always let my firewood season for at least a full year before burning it inside. I have two racks that are over two years old, and some of my freshly split wood is from trees that were already dead so they've got a head start on the seasoning process.

Plus, I can usually tell by the sound of two pieces of wood hitting each other while they're being stacked if they are seasoned or not. It's hard to explain the sound, but anyone who works with firewood regularly will understand the sound I'm talking about.

Putin has made a direct threat to use nuclear weapons in response to attacks on Russian territory, and NATO has issued a response to that threat.

Putin has lost his ever-loving mind. He's putting a nuclear response on the table for conventional attacks on Russian territory. The only conceivable reason to do this NOW is to justify nuclear strikes against Ukraine if they continue attacking Russian forces in SE Ukraine.

The Director is out of town and out of communication, so it falls to me to make the decision to raise the DEFCON level or not for the next few days.

Gotta admit, that decision is a hell of a lot more stressful than I thought it would be.

Re: Coffee Crowd for Civilized Discourse on World Events
Just ugh .....

Went to Michaels yesterday to pick up some frame work.

I always park out away from everyone to avoid bad drivers, and what happens? A lady smacks me.

I was backing out carefully, watching the mirrors and cameras. She is in a space about 3 places away from my space, adjacent parking row. I am fully backed out, brake on, about to shift into drive, when she puts her vehicle in reverse and tears out backwards ass butting into me at full speed.

How she was unable to see my huge BMW is beyond me. COVID brain or just an irresponsible, bad driver?

Of course, she was in a beater SUV, and it was difficult to tell what damage on her vehicle was from this incident, or was pre-existing. I do have a good bit of her white paint on my black bumper.

So, off to the dealership this morning to get repair estimates.

Any video of the crash? I managed to obtain a copy of a video of the car-park after a similar incident through the security office onsite.

Same here. People at the grocery shoving their carts around like they are the only person in the store. Something is clearly going on with a large number of people.

Just got back from the dealership -- $9800.00 in damage, and that is assuming they do not find any other damage to the cameras, sensors or exhaust system when they remove the bumper.

Thank God for insurance.
 Quoting: Lady Jane Smith

Shouldn't the other driver's insurance be paying for the damage?

Got a hold of her today. She seemed perturbed -- whatever. Got her insurance info. Then her insurance called me a few hours later. Going to let progressive and USAA battle it out. I only care about getting the repairs paid for.

What are the options?

It really seems like nothing is really different from the beginning of the week, to me. Putin has been threatening nukes for some time. Has there been any major movement that is new?

Idk, but I'm glad it's not my decision! Sorry for the giggle.

The difference is now he has the Russian State Duma behind him and he's calling up reservists at the same time he's making these threats.

On the other hand, you're right and he's been threatening nukes for months now without following through.

Having a staff meeting now.

I still stand by my belief:

Putin will achieve his goals, or die. Nothing in the middle.

Now, exactly what those goals are? Only he knows, but he's willing to burn us all to get there.
