However, in those times I'm sure there was more to worry about than excrement. Do more than expected, take less than allowed. When dealing with a friend, if you aren't getting the short end, you're doing it wrong. Any good Muslim joke starts with a glance over the shoulder. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

(What did ancient peoples do with babies going poo & pee on them?) ^Butthurt cos his mom couldn't afford diapers and flung him against the wall one too many times as punishment for pooping and peeing! Answer the Q instead of spewing insults! Watch Blue Lagoon and Brooke Shields is making the baby walk underwater. What about when it couldn't walk? Even if cavepeople made diapers out of leaves, the pee seeps thru! So HOW did those babies make it thru their infancy when the natural reaction to stench and gross evacuations is to grab bwaby by ankle and fling against cavewall!!! |

CNN NEVER reported about those baby deaths! Poor babies ended up like this: ^Baby poo-poo splat against da wall! |

I doubt the excrement bothered them too much and I'll bet they stunk to high heaven. Do more than expected, take less than allowed. WHAT do they do to it/him/her when it starts flooding?! but that's gonna keep me up tonight, thinking about all the baby brains splattered against cave wall! I bet archeologists, reading here, now will find plenty of baby brain matter on cave walls! |

(What did ancient peoples do with babies going poo & pee on them?) You gotta read clan of the cave bear. Also noted from a source in which I do not remember... The answer is simply babies have more survival instinct than we give credit. All the mother had to do was hold the baby out in front of her and the baby knows when its hanging out and just goes.. they are supposed to know when cuddled up not to go, but go in the breeze. Cuddling was different cause you're always on the move. Good question |

Thanks to both of you, the mystery is solved, HURRAY!!!! I can now sleep at night all over again! No more baby brains on the cave walls!! Thank you all (except the 1 nasty troll!). This has been an incredibly fruitful thread. I now close it. (But will it stick?...let's find out!) =========THREAD CLOSED========TRHEAD CLOSED======== |

(What did ancient peoples do with babies going poo & pee on them?) Just look how they do it in tribal groups all over the world right now! Hint: baby gives signs when it has to "go". Breastfeed it until it weans itself, carry it around on your back, co-sleep, by the time kid doesn't want mothers milk anymore, kid can speak and walk and go 1 oder 2 by itself. That's how it's done naturally. not like in the "developed world" where you bottlefeed, put pampers on it and make it sleep in its own room (but the families pets are allowed in the parents bed) and put it in cribs or elsewhere far from their mother. (Next question from op: how did woman personal hygiene while menstruating without pads and tampons? - answer: look how tribes do it now!(during these days woman go to special woman hut "because unclean" - I suppose it's because the stench of blood attracts predatory wildlife) Last Edited by Phoenixe2 on 07/17/2022 03:06 AM |

(What did ancient peoples do with babies going poo & pee on them?) Forget Stonehenge, forget the pyramids. New mystery is on hand! It's amazing we survived! I mean are we to believe that cavemen (ok, cavewomen) let babies poo and pee on their lap? Without grunting in disapproval, grabbing the baby by the ankle and flinging it against the cavewall?? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82529865 HOW did cavepeople (men & women) DEAL with baby excrements & urine for months and months, 24/7??? HOW did said babies survive. Ok, in the 1900s they had cloth diapers. Maybe they figured those out by Medieval Times, too? But what about before? HOW were humans not bothered by baby doo & pee?? Serious Q. YOU, too, never thought about this before. Now you have. It's a miracle they let your stinking peeing and pooping ancestor live back in cave times!! They ran around naked or just had a dress on them. No bottoms. |

(What did ancient peoples do with babies going poo & pee on them?) "Bye baby bunting, daddy's gone a hunting to get a little rabbit skin to wrap his baby bunting in." Sometimes these old, ditty rhymes are the clue. Rabbit skins are fairly water proof to begin with and if one layers it with leaves and wrap it all around with a swaddling cloth, all the wet would be contained. I would suspect after a certain amount of time during a "diaper change," all a mother would have to do is unwrap, change out the leaves and re-wrap. Now, how long the rabbit skin stays "dry," needs washing or how many skins you need to keep on hand, is a whole different mystery. BTW, breast fed babies's poop doesn't stink very much at all. |
