Ireland Banks going cashless
From 30th September 2022, AIB Bank will start to go cashless and convert branches, meaning you won’t be able to use cash anymore.

'The bank said cash withdrawals, ATM, and cheque services would cease at the 70 branches, claiming it would free up the branches for the likes of opening new accounts, mortgages, loans, and financial planning. It already has 22 cashless branches, and the new changes are set for September'

Only about 1% of the money in the economy is cash anyway.

This isn't the doom your looking for.
