Unbelievable Tesla Hack! Never Wait in Line to Charge Again! | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76674118 I wanted to say how stupid this degenerate peasant commented, is, but he is not 100% wrong, merely fuking stupid as most idiots here. This is 2K generator, and can fully charge in 35 hours. Or provide 10 miles range in 1 hour. OK, I did a quick search. Here was an answer from a Tesla owner, on Quora. Tim K. Owns a Model S P85+ and a Leaf "It charges about 4 miles per hour on a 110v/15amp circuit, so if you average less than 50 miles a day, it should be enough. A full charge from 0% in the longest range Tesla Model 3’s would take over 3 days, but if you’re that low, you probably want to stop at a supercharger for 20 or 30 minutes before going home. The circuitry needed to monitor the battery charging does take power to keep active. I believe charging from a 110v/15amp circuit is about 10% less efficient than a 220v/50amp circuit just because of how long that circuitry needs to be on." So I stand corrected. Not 2 weeks, but a bit over 3 days to fully charge a Tesla with a 120 VAC 2000 watt generator To correct you again, this is not how electricity works. Amps are amps and watts are watts. Efficiency is unchanged 120V, 240V, 500V no matter. Your house gets 240V 200A total. You can easily disconnect entire house, and run extension cord from main lines into a charger. Now you have 240V 200A charger. 48K and can charge this Tesla Garbage in 2 hours. You must not be able to read very well. The situation being discussed is charging a Tesla on the side of the road with a 2000 watt Honda Generator. They are not at your house with 200 AMP service. Go argue with some clouds. They are plotting against you! Shake your fist at them and vent your fury! WTF!!!!!?? ITS YOUR TEXT, RIGHT THERE, NOT EDITED AS PRIOR WAS. ARE YOU INSANE PEASANTS COMPLETELY DEGRADED?? ! ‘110v/15amp circuit is about 10% less efficient than a 220v/50amp circuit’ |

User ID: 80146778 United States 07/23/2022 06:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My Tesla Model 3 is currently charging to 80% capacity in my garage right now. That will give me roughly 300 miles of range. If I charge to 100%, I'll have 350+ miles of range. This happens almost daily. My gas station is in my garage. It's a 200amp service panel with the Tesla wall charger pulling 48 amps. It charges pretty quickly. Quoting: Urban_Moving_Systems Charging while traveling is a piece of cake. It takes like 20 minutes to go from around 20% to 80% charge. There never is a line, and you can see how many chargers are open from the navigation system on the screen in the car. That costs less than $20. People who hate on Tesla and participate in these threads have never driven a Tesla. These cars are great, and are pussy magnets. I didn't buy this car to save the environment. I'm not a greenie, but I'm not worried about coal power or gas cars in the USA now because the technology to keep things relatively clean is very capable. Nearly all of the global warming pollution is coming from China and India. Filthy fucks. I bought the car because it's fast as fuck, looks cool, drives itself, and because we drive it 40,000 - 50,000 miles per year, and even when gas was around $2.00 / gallon during Trump it saved us a ton of money. At this point, the car is almost paying for itself. Quoting: BRIEF All generators produce AC. These Inverter units Rectify it to DC, then Invert it back to AC. They can produce a better controlled sine wave and frequency, which is only important if you are running high quality sound systems. (look it up) Anything else can be fed from a normal generator just fine. The thing that is not smart about invertor generators, is the probability of an electronic failure. They are very prone to having electrolytic capacitors fail, and also they have a lot of MOSFETs that fail. These things are emergency equipment. They get abused, used in harsh weather. Buying an inverter generator is ill advised in my opinion. Too many failures on these things and most people dont have the parts and the skills to repair a failed PC board full of smoldering/exploded components. What generator do you recommend? |

Too many failures on these things and most people dont have the parts and the skills to repair a failed PC board full of smoldering/exploded components. What generator do you recommend? Any decent brand name normal generator. If it has a Honda engine, that is great, but will cost more than other options. THe main thing is to avoid an inverter type generator, because just too much failure potential with all those caps and MOSFETs. Having several generators is better for reliability. If it is a gasoline type, use only 100% gasoline, no ethanol content. Make sure you have a spare fuel shutoff valve. When they fail and leak, they put the genny out of commission until you can get another valve ordered and installed. Know how to rebuild the carb. I have an 11kw genny from Northern Tools, (their Powerhorse brand). Plus a 5500/6500 Coleman storm commander. And a smaller one that I bought during an ice storm that works surprisingly well, but is certainly not premium. I bought the big one because it was on sale. Many people buy the large whole house units rated for over 20 Kw and piped up to use natural gas as the fuel. It would be great not to worry about gas gumming up the carb, but they cost a lot more and they still have a lot of electronics that must function. DUring a big outage in Texas a Neighbor with one of those pricey generators had it lose the control board due to a lightning strike. So they spent $20,000 for a generator and it didn't work when they really needed it. Keep it simple, and if you can manage, redundant. Also have a few spare parts. Anyway, that is my philosophy. I think my system is way more reliable than others, and only spent about $1800 for all 3. I have a couple 15 gallons gas tanks and a bunch of 5 gal jerry cans and a few plantic 5 gal cans. I bought a gasoline fuel pump and made up a fuel transfer system that filters the fuel and pumps it, using a 12V Lithium rechargable battery that came with a smaller Ryobi drill/driver. Makes fuel handling super easy. Portable gennies are also PORTABLE. SO if you have to bug out or travel for some reason, you can take a generator with you. Pretty easy to toss a genny and a few jerry cans in the bed of a pickup truck. A diesel unit would be a nice option if you want to spend more. OBXSolarwind channel on Youtube shows you his elaborate system. He put in a marine diesel with a wet exchaust. Can't even hear it run from outside. The guy is seriously talented at construction projects. Natural gas outages are also a consideration these days. The big Texas winter power outage was caused by a natural gas shortage. So everyone buying natural gas fed generators can fail if that situation arises again. I believe in the Sandy Storm in NJ years back, that they also had a natural gas outage.
