The ones that came 1991 and following years were refugees from Yugoslavia, all perfectly integrated hard working people.

The ones coming 2015 on the other hand.. I personally met some young Syrians who actually did a apprenticeship or study and do work hard and unsupported. So I do think most of them are here to contribute and not to leech.
Not so much with the people that came from more southern,african countries..

It's funny if you have companies complaining lack of qualified personnel on the one hand and people desperately looking for jobs that actually earn them a living otherwise on the other hand.

And those still working now blame the native free handout unemployed people openly, don't realize every single one of them is just 12 months of bad luck (gettingnseriously ill or company closing) away from their poor lifestyle themselves, but won't speak up against giving money away to everyone else in the world.

Former colleague of mine said F*UCK that.... He's 62. Bought a house in Hungary a year ago. February this year, sold his house in Germany, paid off the house in Hungary and retired. Moved to Hungary permanently. Smart move in my opinion.

One huge reason that you Europeans can have such luxurious hours and retirement age is because you never had to pay more than a token for your military security. You did not pay your NATO bills, you did not pay your share of the military costs, and you did not mind the huge amount of American dollars that flowed to you every year.

Piss off on that. You complain about other European countries freeloading off of Germany, but Germany and the EU have been freeloading off of us for 70 years. No wonder we have to work so many hours. It is so the EU workers can have extended vacation days.

There is a shortage of qualified people everywhere.....real skills are useless when everyone is making money on a screen....your trades and other skilled workers diminish over the years.....BUT in down times like now the weaknesses are seen.....

Hell I owned a fabrication business and had trouble finding skilled workers as time went by....I downsized until I retired and sold business....I read the average age of a machinist is in the late 50's now....

From first hand experience I can tell you that US-working hours are an useless metric ... Germans would do the same job in 2/3 the time and leave early.

That is how very expensive german workers can still compete with the cheap rest of the world: they do the same work in 2/3 of the time, at least.

I can tell you from having lived in Germany for a short while that what you said above is total bullshit.

Its true. I'm in the metal fab business and retirees are leaving at such a fast rate that we can't replenish them with enough apprentices. I believe the last number I heard was over 60% of our local was within 5 years of retirement at the age of 62.

Its sad but many young kids just don't want to get their hands dirty, can't get to work on time, or simply can't pass a piss test. Its too bad because not many professions afford you the opportunity of getting paid to learn your trade and provide a solid $100k a year after a short 4 year apprenticeship.
