People have been saying "they're coming for your guns" for decades. It still hasn't happened.

Personally, I think the NRA loves it when a Democrat is in office and tries to pass any kind of gun control because they rake in the bucks with new members and gun stores rake in the bucks due to panic-buying.

You're being played. By both sides, no less.

They're not coming for your guns. Forget the impossible logistics of such an operation; there's too much money to be made by keeping the people in fear of losing their guns.

It's dead in the Senate anyways.... those assholes are lobbied by gun manufacturers and wont lose any precious dime out of their pockets. Just a staged rowl up of the gun supporters in this country and a boost for these anti gun mass shooting nutjobs to divide us even more, which will be BEGGING for a gun when the time comes.

I agree, but as it is this will only hold up until they’ve stolen the Senate.

What irks me is that they have taken our measure and marked us for cowards. It’s because of all the “my doorstep” talk instead of “we will unite and spring into action.”

If we always spoke of doing the latter, they’d be more hesitant I think. At the heart of every “my doorstep” post is someone who is too lazy or too stupid to think the situation through.

It’s like Ayn Rand said: (paraphrasing) all you need do is simply sit on your couch and do nothing. Eventually they’ll make sitting on your couch a felony and by then it will be far too late to do anything.

What part of my post makes you think I believe these guns should be banned?

Which is why it won't go down like that, but that doesn't mean they aren't coming for them. All they have to do is make it illegal to buy them, sell them, or transfer them to anyone else. Even if they never took another step beyond that, how are you going to get parts when the manufacturers stop selling to civilians because it's illegal (gotta stop people from buying triggers and firing pins for their 3d printed plastic lowers)? What's going to happen to all of your collection when you die? You won't be allowed to transfer it to your kids and if your kids are caught with any of them later on they'll be arrested for having them. They'll say they're not coming for what you already own, but it won't matter because what you already own won't be allowed to stay in private hands after you die. Even if they never took another step beyond it they would kill it within one generation.

And they will almost certainly take another step beyond it. They'll just wait for the next incident and then implement a mandatory surrender of all existing guns, perhaps with a mandatory registration in between (but they've been making an illegal database out of existing 4473s anyway). They won't go door to door, they'll just say if you don't turn it in by a certain date, you're in possession of illegal firearms. If you get caught at the range with it, if you get caught in a traffic stop with it, if you get caught using it to defend yourself, you go to jail. That is how this will work, it won't be a door to door civil war kickoff.
