Freeing the slaves seemed like a good idea at the time... Maybe to the Northerners, but Southern people knew already we are quite different. That is why sundown town laws, jim crow laws and separate facilities were needed. Mixing Whites and blacks can only ever end badly, for everyone involved. We are like oil and water.
