The term Global "South" is not really a geographical one, rather political. Countries like China and Mexico are also considered as part of the Global South, who tend to have an anti-Western and anti-imperialist cultural and political orientations.

United States is 4th largest producer/miner of gold. Australia is number 2, and Canada is number 5. For Silver production, America is number 10, Poland is number 5.

Australia mines 37% of the total amount of iron mined globally. America is also 5th for copper production.

America is the number one oil producing country in the world, while Canada is fourth.
