this was happening decades ago if you got flagged under certain criteria

ie if you had violent felonies and went to buy one, you just violated your parole/citizenship status, which to be fair, is a crime..

This is for any law abiding citizen who gets denied, your name could be similar to someone not permitted, your address might have changed, a glitch in the system, of which there are thousands

You will be treated like a criminal for just following the law

I can see if a person was denied, but not delayed.

If you've bought any number of guns you've probably been delayed once or twice.

Now expect the cops to show up.

I am ex military and I have had to wait a week everytime I have bought a gun...

that is crazy, I buy guns in under 45 mins ATF has been delaying, use to be 15 mins.

Remember right after Sandy Hook? When Obama created a task force to address mass shootings and put Joe Biden in charge of it? I recall specifically that the pro-gun side (who were called to the table to help propose solutions) said we don't need new laws, we need to properly enforce the laws that are on the books ALREADY. Don't restrict people who have done nothing wrong, go after the bad guys when they DO something wrong. Like people on the restricted list who try to buy a gun.

Joe Biden came back at them saying C'mon, man, we don't have the man power to go investigate everyone who's on the restricted list that tries to buy a gun... (which makes you wonder where he intended to get the manpower to enforce the sweeping new laws he wanted to propose, but anyway...)

Well, that list is full of people who are felons, wife-beaters, mentally incompetent (adjudicated) and folks who've been deemed a danger to themselves or others. I think if one of them tries to buy a gun, hell yes the local law needs to at least know about it. Pro-gun advocates agreed with this as recently as the last time JB was in the White House.

If there is a hitch in this getup it's with the "delayed" category... sometimes that means as little as "we had a huge surge of BG checks, and couldn't get to this one just yet". Those should be held until a determination is made.

I just bought a pistol. Made me wait until the third day then cleared me. No cops coming to my house. Sounds like a bunch of trash.

They can't even do background checks, if you haven't already been a frequent gun buyer, you're going to get a Delay. When I did it every single applicant got a Delay. People were pissed off.

The excuse given to me was they were too busy to do their job. Waited a month and got bupkus from them, so I got a refund and made the store waive their restocking charge because their store policy is effed up.

The stores are (or were) permitted to complete the sale after three days if there is no response on the Delay. But it's up the store if they do this or not. Chain stores usually don't, but mom and pops will.

So I haven't dug into this latest ordeal, but I'm guessing the three days thing is out if you have to wait around for a damn visit.
