The black aides in Nursing homes are like this.

Management cut down 60 bed nursing home floors to only being allowed to have one actual nurse, who is liable and responsible for all 60 people who have multiple things going on at once.

She is not allowed to have any help, except for two black aides with no nurse training who will tell her and the patients to fuck off..... if god forbid you ask them to do anything. The nurse is overwhelmed with meds, care, orders and the aides will sit at the nurse's station refusing to do anything.

If the nurse complains about it she gets called a racist. If the patients complain when the aides are obnoxious, rude, and unhelpful, the patient gets called racist.

One of my nurse coworkers found her patient not breathing, which happens with infirm medically complicated and ill nursing home patients. When she screamed over to the aide to help her by grabbing the code cart and calling 9/11 the aide told her to shut the fuck up and responded with "I ain't helping no white bitches, I is busy". The nurse told her this is an emergency but she just walked off.

They were the only two staff on the unit of course. So the nurse was essentially alone.

The refusal to help by the aide forced the nurse to leave the patient to run to the phone to call 9/11. The aide refused to lift a finger to help. Patient died. Aides don't have a nursing license and neither do managers who short staff the units and drop the skill mix by replacing nurses with aides.

Nurse has full liability here, even with no control over the situation.

On the rare occasion that one of these black aides actually does answer a call bell they are rude to the patients. If a patient asks for pain meds, the aide will not communicate that to the nurse. It goes on and on. Can't fire them. It's racist.

Management still says maximum staffing allowed on a 60 bed unit is one nurse and two aides. No second nurse allowed, and you need about 20 to handle 60 patients and their medical needs safely.
