Foul play? Hit job? I have trouble imagining it being a hit. But I have trouble imagining many things that take place. Interesting that the official account changed. Initially, Walorski's RAV4 was clobbered by an attacking Buick that'd strayed from the other lane of Indiana 19. Our politicians and our government are perfect in every way, and they don't lose control of their vehicles. But about a day later, after witnesses had contradicted the official account, they changed the story. Walorski's vehicle was the one that'd left the northbound lane "for reasons that are unknown at this time" and popped the oncoming Buick. Four fatalities, three politicos and one 58 year old Nappanee woman. [link to www.southbendtribune.com (secure)] |

Foul play? Hit job? Following six weeks of analysis, they've announced what they think caused the accident. Speed limit is probably 55. RAV4 caught up with a flatbed. RAV4 was carrying very important people who had very important things to do and needed to pass the dawdling flatbed. RAV4 slowed down a bit in order to open some distance between it and the flatbed. The the RAV4 turned on the afterburners, accelerating to 82 MPH. Once it caught up with the flatbed, it switched to the other lane, expecting to be past the flatbed in two seconds. Oops, there's a Buick in the other lane. [link to www.nbcnews.com (secure)] Doesn't disclose how fast the RAV4 had been moving before catching up with the flatbed, or whether the flatbed was traveling at the posted limit. An actuary could come up with a number to approximate how many man-years were lost because of this attempt to save a man-minute or two. About 150 man-years would be my guess. |
