You know how all warm and cuddly accountants always are when given any authority.
They're 'people' persons, yup yup, second only to pimps and pawnbrokers.

This started under 0bama. They've been working on this for a very long time.

What kind of person would want to go to work for the IRS?

I knew one guy, he rented an apartment that I managed. His life had fallen apart. He said that he had no friends, because nobody wanted to be friends with an IRS agent. Everyone hated him. EVERY encounter he had was adversarial. One day I went to collect his rent and he broke down crying about how he was only doing his job. He had a degree in accounting.

He drank himself to death. When police went in on a welfare check they found him dead in bed. They asked me if I had any contacts for notifications. I gave them who he listed on his lease application, a sister in Arizona. They contacted her and she said she didn't want to have anything to do with him. He was cremated by the county.

In his apartment were hundreds of empty vodka bottles. The oven was full of empty bottles. He had a 13" tv and a few other daily items. Then there was a box of personal items, family photos, diploma, etc. The photos showed that he came from a family of standing, very nice family portraits from the 50's. I contacted his sister about the box, she said throw it in the dumpster.

He thought going to work for the IRS would be a nice career for his accounting degree.
