Had no other source to borrow from.

I will pay him back, but I feel so bad about having to ask him
for help.

62 is a tough age - you've just come out of Saturn return.

I supported my mom for a little bit and I felt good to help in some way.

Your son loves you. Which is the greatest blessing.

I do that every month. I give my parents money to help every month. It’s a thing here. Especially now that my father died and they cut in half his pension that my mother takes.

My dad mid seventies.... I’m buying him a house. I have to. And I want to.
If he acts like he’s shamed, I’m gunna get his girlfriend over from thailand for a holiday, to slap him for me.

No shit.
He better not come the fucking sook. No one wants to hear it.

You had a kid who can help you...and then did... you should feel immense pride.

Don’t grovel about and bung on bullshit, because you’re realising how frail your situation is.

No human alive could have planned for what modern leaders were allowed to do to all of us.

Go slap yourself and harden the fuck up.

I would do whatever I could for my dad. Even give my own life to save his. Either of my parents I would do this for. I don't even have to ponder that for a nano second!

I financed his University of Austin for 4 years. Cost me a fortune, still reeling from costs.

All worth it.

Look at what money does to families. This dynamic is not healthy.

The "borrowing" of $500 should not be an issue, not even slightly. The spreading of that money from child to parent should be as natural as the paying for school by the parent. Its about who has money in the family, and when.

Take away the money factor entirely and imagine the situation as it really is. The money has become too prominent a symbol in the psyche, it has interrupted the "family" circuit.

WHY WOULD YOU FEEL SHAME? THE REASON FAMILY EXISTS IS FOR MUTUAL SUPPORT.

THIS IS WHY WE'RE IN SUCH A FUCKED UP POSITION, EVERYONE IS SO FAR OUT OF WHACK FROM THE NORM THAT YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW RELATIONSHIPS WORK.

BEFORE THERE WAS INSURANCE THERE WAS FAMILY.

This is where western society went wrong. Kids are suppose to take care of elderly parents.

Things are tough. I became a widow in my 40’s and with the high prices, I’ve been having to borrow money from my parents to pay the bills. There is literally nothing else I can rid off. I don’t have cable, a tv, never go out. I work full-time, work really hard and barely have money for groceries.
Never feel ashamed of needing help. Especially now with the high prices.

Amen. I've been fortunate to be able to work two jobs and provide for my family, but yes, it gets tougher and tougher every year. I wish I could help my children more while they are in school but it's a near impossibility. I hope they appreciate what I've done for them to this point and will continue to help them as much as I can.
