The kid was attempting petty theft, not armed robbery. This was not something that required deadly force. The clerk is gonna be in trouble with the law, and with the kid's family.
Quoting: MarPep And the clerk was supposed to know that how? Mind reading? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. "Petty theft" turned into strong armed robbery when the thugs invaded his personal space. Exactly that’s when threat of harm kicks in and bam justified termination of criminal.
