Store Owner Stabs Thief To Death -- Gonna Need Some Opinions On This One...

Thanks for posting. 5* I was just wondering, normally when the news show something like this they try to obscure the use weapons and warn people even when they hide the act. The newscasters said the guy "took matters into his own hands".

The without warning you see the shop owner using self-defense.
Then there was a shooting at the Mirage yesterday or before yesterday. Is there a hidden agenda?

I'm no way justified in the northeast but I guess we'll see what Nevada laws are.

That's all that matters is the law right?


Otherwise it should be common sense you don't murder someone for stealing.

If someone robs you wearing ski masks, you can only assume they are armed.

You don't need to ask to pat them down while they rob you.

The kid was attempting petty theft, not armed robbery. This was not something that required deadly force. The clerk is gonna be in trouble with the law, and with the kid's family.

The store clerk probably played and replayed that reaction over and over until he was presented the opportunity to carry out the SLAUGHTER.

My opinion ...this is a no brainer. Jump the counter in an attempt to rob and possibly maim, then you have made a choice that sets all the ensuing wheels in motion. If the result is the shopkeeper planting a blade in yer neck then you have successfully reaped that which you had sown.

hard to say how this ends up in the courts. the stabber advanced on the stabbie and started stabbing the stabbie that didn't have a weapon in his hands that I could see

robber definitely fucked up that's for sure and beyond dispute but I'd need to be convinced that the stabber was in fear for his life thus justifying the use of deadly force upon the stabbie

in the final analysis the stabber was at work trying to earn a living when his life was forever changed by a would be robber

push come to shove I'd side with the stabber but wouldn't feel great about it

Sometimes law abiding people are just waiting for the opportunity to become muderous. People should understand this in their risk benefit calculations. Lots of smooth cr8minals out there.

I would have felt differently if the store owner's life was endangered, but it was not. And I think the courts will see it this way also.

I agree. Asking a shop clerk to make a split second decision about the intentions of someone jumping over the counter, and coming at you, is very unreasonable.

If someone is not assaulting you with lethal force, I don't believe lethal force should be used.

If I was on a jury, that store keeper would be found guilty.

If the thief was threatening the shop keeper with a deadly weapon then it would be a different verdict.
