German retirement home wants to ban residents from using electrical appliances

Simply unbelievable: It was above all the elderly who suffered massively from the Corona policy. Factual isolation and loneliness in the homes were only the tip of the iceberg. The suffering hit the people who, with their life's work, created the prosperity from which we live today and which the left-green culture warriors are currently driving against the wall. This generation, of all people, must now continue to suffer. In the specific case of the Elmshorn senior citizens' and nursing home "Haus Thomsen".

Coffee machine - forbidden. Fan - forbidden. Also egg stove, water boiler and refrigerators may not use the inhabitants in their rooms starting from 1 September.

This has been ordered by the home's management. Reason: The facility wants to save electricity during the crisis. And to achieve this goal, those responsible are cracking down," writes the Schleswig-Holsteinische Zeitungsverlag (SHR) in an article that is unfortunately hidden behind a paywall.

"As of August 28, we will collect all the aforementioned devices power guzzlers - and put them in storage or give them to relatives for safekeeping," reads a letter from home director Burkhard Herrmann. Ironically the home forms in the Internet under "care familiarly"; it boasts itself of a "family handling" with the inhabitants.

In this letter "the home director leaves no doubt that he will enforce his electrical appliance prohibition also against resistances of inhabitants or family members.

For example, he threatens to apply to the Social Welfare Office for monthly user fees for the banned devices - amounting to 30 to 60 euros per device per month - if no support is forthcoming," the SHR report says. "Herrmann's argument in the info letter: 'Yes, the fees are intended to discourage because the selfish use of additional devices entails the home cost increase of third parties, is unsolidaric and ignores the overall efforts of society with regard to energy saving.'"

Saving electricity at the expense of people in need of care: This is perfidious and despicable. This Elmshorn nursing home violates the dignity of the elderly. It not only takes away their kettle and coffee machine. It takes away their right to a self-determined life, to make their own decisions, to an important piece of freedom and individuality. It takes away their property. So that the house can end up saving a few euros on energy costs.
