Re: Is an Englishman welcome in France these days??
Why? What do you want to do there that you can't do at home?
Do you speak French?

Go to an ashram. Spend 20 years learning French. THEN you ca buy a house. PS: you canNOT buy a house or obtain residency in France, there are strict requirements, you are Brexit, and language is one of them. Mandatory!

Obviously you do not know France to ask such silly question. YOU should know the difference between Languedoc-Roussillon, Loire Valley and Camargue already!

I have a shortlist of locations Limousin and Indre are inexpensive and not touristic. Looking for other good tips.

I speak basic French it’s appreciated by the French. Never try and get by in France without at least basic language skills. They’ll laugh at you.

What do I want to do there that I can’t do at home?

1) Own a large house. With lots of land.

2) Own a rifle and hunt.

3) Stay away from urban leftist fuckwits.

Enough for you?

I could go on….

You might need a job and the French might rather employ French. So you might then have to sell home.

Never read so much bollocks ,lived in France for 19 years now, easy to still come over ,you need to have an earning potential to get your carte vitale and residency permit .
Plenty of old properties still around, Aveyron is a good dept ,people are still real here .
Easy to own most arms , rifles pistols ,revolvers etc

Nice tip thanks mate. Checking it out on Rightmove - good prices and housing stock. My Irish mate had a Dragunov rifle when he lived in Midi Pyrenees !

Which is when I’ll be visiting friends back in UK during the worst heat. Flights are cheap and plentiful all year round (for now at least)

Why do you care if the locals will welcome you or not? The Muslims don't care.

You wanna a real dump, come to America where you have to keep alert 24/7...instead of Mussel met Frites, Comte, Entrecote, Champagne du L'aube, Trappists, gently rolling countryside with normal people, we got MacDonalds, Chic FILa, frozen dinners, budweiser, Ripple wine, ugly edifices filled with...oh nevermind
