People magazine calls it a 'reservoir'.

"Rinn also told the Post that the reservoir's water levels have receded since police conducted prior searches two weeks ago.

"Now the water has receded and we're seeing the vehicle went farther into the water than maybe [police] thought," Rinn said. "When a vehicle goes in the water, it has air trapped in it for a while so it will float for a little ways before it fills with water and sinks."

For Kiely Rodni’s car to be 55 feet from shore in 14 feet of water, it must have been traveling at a high rate of speed—unless the bottom has a steep slope or drops off—

bc water would have made the car’s engine stall almost immediately?

There is a short road that goes from the campground to a "boat launch" right into the reservoir. It looks like someone drove it into the water at the boat launch.

Yeah, they should be able to tell if she was dead before she went into the water. Assuming that the body in the car is her? It probably is, but I don't think they've confirmed yet?

I was young once and I understand the thrill of partying. The problem with drugs and alcohol is that it often times puts you in proximity to the worst types of people on the planet. Like manure attracts flues, drugs and alcohol attract felons.

she could have got lost and thought it was a road. She could have drove herself right into the water. If her window wasnt rolled down and the electronics stopped working she couldn't have got out the car.

Inexperienced young drinker. They probably gave her a few shots. Decided to drive home got hit with the hard liquor all at once. Passed out at wheel. IT HAPPENS EVERY YEAR, ALL THE TIME, BUT THEY USUALLY DON'T DRIVE OFF IN THE LAKE. They have an accident and get killed.

Yes, upon seeing the road layout there I realized she could have taken a wrong turn trying to leave the campground area?

Take a left instead of a right and after a few winding turns you are headed straight at the boat launch into the reservoir. It looks like it's just far enough away from the campground that she could have driven in without anybody noticing.

Why is this case getting national attention?

Not trying to argue, just curious.

My scenario...boyfriend and her friend hooked up and wanted to get rid of her. Or just blasted drunk and high.

I almost drove into a lake at a campsite late at night while driving around looking for a private spot, went downhill, saw water just in time to slam on my brakes and slowly back up away from the water.

The vehicle was found upside down and about 14 feet underwater, diver Nick Rinn, who discovered the car, told The Post. The driver’s window was broken and there was a body in the backseat.

Wonder how her mirror got like that? Also doesn't it look like the window is broken out?

The window, to me, looked as if somebody's skull cracked against it. Big ole spiderweb.

Doug has said in the past that many of the victims he finds are in the back seat because they're trying to get out of the car when they perish.

I've never understood that myself. Young kids go to parties every night, have too much to drink and wind up crashing their cars...usually into other cars but in this case it certainly looks like she just drove straight into a lake.

Sad but it's a daily occurrence with kids....

It got national attention because they put a human trafficking spin on it from the start.
