Fort Bragg name change to Fort Liberty likely to cost more than $6M, new report finds
t will cost approximately $6,374,230 to rename all of Fort Bragg's assets to Fort Liberty, according to a new report given to Congress on Monday.

The report comes from the Naming Commission which was previously tasked with coming up with recommendations for removing Confederate influence from the United States military.

The group released nine suggested new names for Army bases back in May. In that report, Fort Liberty was recommended as the new name of Fort Bragg.

Fort Bragg is named after Confederate Army Officer Braxton Bragg, who is widely considered one of the worst generals of the Civil War. He lost most of the battles he was involved in and many historians consider him responsible in part for the Confederacy's ultimate defeat.

This new report also shows that the Naming Commission considered several other names as possible replacements for Fort Bragg. The commission considered names to honor 1LT Vernon Baker, MSG Roy Benavidez, SSG Félix M. Conde-Falcón, LTG James Gavin, MSG Gary Gordon & SFC Randall Shughart, CPL Rodolfo Hernández, COL Robert Howard, GEN Colin Powell, GEN Matthew Ridgway and GEN Roscoe Robinson, Jr.

If we're going to spend over 6 million dollars to rename the post, we might as well just go ahead and call it Fort Pantywaist and dress everybody in fucking rainbow uniforms with pink berets.

I think that the name 'Fort' is too militaristic and scary. We should just change the name to "Barbie's Giant Dreamhouse of Parasols."

13 U.S. servicemembers died during the evacuation from Afghanistan, but still less than the number of dead at Fort Hood.

OP...thanks for this great insight into how fake news works.

The line in the ABC story is:

..who is widely considered one of the worst generals of the Civil War. He lost most of the battles he was involved in and many historians consider him responsible in part for the Confederacy's ultimate defeat.

this line is basically a cut and paste from Wikipedia:

Bragg is generally considered among the worst generals of the Civil War. Most of the battles he engaged in ended in defeat..... Bragg has a generally poor reputation with historians....The losses suffered by Bragg's forces are cited as highly consequential to the ultimate defeat of the Confederacy.

[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

But here is the thing about that paragraph in Wikipedia....
It is the only paragraph in the entire Wikipedia post about Bragg THAT HAS NO CITATION.

In other words...some leftwing fascist 'tard inserted some Bragg hate into a Wikipedia article and now it is being cited in news stories as information.

I have no familiarity with Braggs...but he appears to have become famous for his valor as a US officer during the Mexican American war and as an Indian fighter.

I plan on reading about him, because no doubt this Wikipedia is a biased hate piece from the left.

I caught that from the beginning and might have addressed the subject, but as it turns out, I don't really care. At this point, FORT BRAGG is the name of a U.S. Military Army base, and it will cost millions of dollars just to appease a non-military army of shitbirds, shitheels and losers.
