I bought a steel pistol trap so I can sight in my air rifles inside. The only thing I shoot inside are air rifles.

They are crazy powerful. At first I tried 2 different airgun pellet traps. The first one was a big foam block. The pellets went straight through and then most of the way through an old college taxt book.

Then I tried some thin steel pellet trap. 2 shots and it was destroyed. The 3rd shot bounced back at me and hit me in the neck, right over my jugular vein. It didn't pierce the skin thank goodness or it might have ended me.

Then I bought a real pistol trap that has a heavy steel plate in back angled down so it dumps the bullet into a tray below it that you put some sand in. Wonderful design and no issues since then. The thing is kinda heavy though, which I guess it needs to be.

No basement, so I just sit in the dining room, shoot across the formal living room and into the study, where the bullet trap sits on a bookshelf.

I only use it to sight the air rifles in or confirm they are still zeroed, before taking a shot at a squirrel out the window.
