Im 40 years old & have been working out harder & more than when I was young & Im barely seeing r Listen carefullly, because here is wisdom and great advice. Atleast if you’re male. Quoting: Anonymous Cowar 84010961 You can’t lose weight that easy by cardio and diet alone when you get older. It’s an hormonal thing, and a survival mechanism. As your testosterone declines, your body gets more likely to go into fat preservation mode from excessive dieting and cardio, and burn muscles first instead. To conserve the fat reserves in case shit really goes south, as it interprets your excercise and diet as a crisis/famine situation. What you need to do is to kickstart your testosterone production again with squats and weightlifting excercises. Cardio after 50 is almost useless, it just wears your body down. Joints, tendons, ligaments, everything just takes a beating from it. Your MUCH better off lifting, because that rejuvenates your body to a younger age due to the natural increase of growth hormones and testosterone it creates. After a certain age cardio and dieting gets counterproductive, your body goes in conservation mode and interprets it as a crisis. Squats will kickstart your hormones and testosterone, and lifting will keep you young, whereas excess cardio wears you down. And it starts around 40. Google away. Thank me later. This applies to women also. In addition to all the great advice on what, what not, when, when not, how much, and how little to eat, your exercise program needs to build muscle and get your hormones moving back towards when you were younger. Lift weights and do metabolic conditioning work. One met con thing you can do is add sprints to your running. Here is my met con story: I gained 20 pounds during pregnancy. By the time my son was a week old and most of the excess water weight was gone, I was 9 pounds overweight. Don’t laugh at “9”. I am very small, short waistline, and unfortunately never put fat on the backside to give me a nice rounded female butt. I looked frumpy. I took 6 of those pounds off with running and healthy eating, plus sometimes step and kickbox, but the 3 that remained mostly stayed on my thighs. The thighs were not big, but an inch too big in proportion to the rest of me, and there was some cellulite. Those thighs stayed in place for a lot of years, and then menopause came. I don’t wish the 6 years of horrid carb craving and massive focus on food on anybody. I ate a ton of carrots in a prevention attempt, and this made my feet turn yellow. Hot flashes were very bad, but the “Give me food now! I am starving!” was ruining my life. I lived my life because I had to, but my desire was to do nothing but eat, then eat some more. My fight against the horror resulted in me gaining 9 pounds instead of 50 or 100, and those 9 were worse than the post-pregnancy nine because they were all around my torso. The thighs stayed at the same one-inch too big they had been for years. When appetite control came back to normal, I started the weight down/weight back up game I’d seen others do. My women friends at 30 and 40 pounds overweight looked better than I did in the 10 to 15 pounds overweight range, but still I didn’t do what it would take to not look like a weeble until the day I signed up for a live outdoor boot camp class. I went to class 5 mornings a week. The trainer pushed us hard. I went along with her pushing because she was looking. This is was way different than any video work I had ever done because I had never really worked that hard before - - even when I thought I had. I did not change my food. By the end of the first 5-week camp, the post menopause fat was gone. By the end of seven 5-week camps, my post-pregnancy thighs were gone and they looked better than when I was in my teens and twenties. I did that boot camp for 6 years until covid days destroyed things. I continue to work out hard with videos and I do sprints every other run. Running is, and has been since 1986, a mind thing for me way more than an exercise thing. The sprints cover both: starting a day with sprints is always good. I am now 62 and there is not a single dimple of cellulite on me. I can do box jumps on a box slightly higher than knee-high. I can do plyo down into the bottom of a push-up as part of an intense minute of burpees. I can do jump tucks. My push-up record, on the toes man-style, is one set of 47. I can also do one set of 6 unassisted pullups. If you want some FANTASTIC free training on YouTube, check out Caroline Girvan. If you do try working out with Caroline, remember to let the starter add run 30 seconds before you hit SKIP or she won’t get paid for your view. Last Edited by Queen Runner on 08/14/2022 09:19 AM |

Always trust the Vikings. My step father’s family is from Norway, wise people they are. Couldn’t have said this better. Cardio is good to keep the blood circulation and pressure regulated, but it will do nothing for weight loss. Only weight training will help you lose fat. You don’t want to lose “weight”, you want to lose fat. Weights, weights, weights. And you don’t have to become a power lifter. Lifting 100 pounds 8 times, or 20 pounds 40 times; same 800 pounds, just structured differently. And, guess what happens when you do squats and lift weights? Yep, your heart rate increases, same effect as cardio but you are engaging muscles and burning fat. If it makes you feel better, jog, but only to get you started, then do at least 30 minutes to an hour of weight training. Alternate days (chest one day, bi and tris the next, legs the next, rotate, switch it around, etc). Get the FitOn App, free. And, have fun with it. Stress can derail your fat loss so do breathing exercises and chill/meditate. Go lose that fat! |

I typically stop the jogging program when I get down to 135lb. Its always been easy for me to get down to 135 after being fat. At 35, I went up to 170lb and was easily able to get back down to 135lb from jogging and eating right. Im now 40 years old, and Im 165lb, Im trying my best to go back down to 135lb and for the life of me I cant. Its been 2 months and Ive increased my mileage on the treadmill. Im now doing 7-8 miles every 2 days and my weight fluctuates between 160-165. I cant lose weight for the life of me. I dont want to take any fat burners or any weight loss help pills. I wanna do it the natural way like I always have. Eating clean and jogging. Add weight lifting to your regime. Building muscle mass will peel off fat |

Im 40 years old & have been working out harder & more than when I was young & Im barely seeing r I had very similar problems, overweight low energy, and the job I had was very sedentary. I contacted the herbalists at this place from a friend they helped with ED and other issues. They put me on a detox protocol, digestive cleanse and using this product really melted the weight off me as I skipped meals but felt full and good. One of the ways I knew I turned a corner was when I no longer craved bad or junk foods, no more pizza, heavy fried foods. I began to crave just clean, healthy, light meals. Chop firewood till exhaustion, some kettle bell if you cant. Hiking and taking herbs to cleanse digestive track and I have lost about 35 lbs. Don't weigh yourself too much, go by belt size. When you have to put a new hole in your belt because its too big is a great feeling. Don't do reps either when you exercise go berserker mode until exhaustion they have an etsy shop too [link to www.cunningfolkherbs.com] |
