SKY NEWS! Outrage Over 'Swastika' Designed US Government Building.
This building was built by the US military which clearly shows their afinity with both facist and Nazi symbols.

Other information regarding it is availble both on google video and GLP search features.

The Wesley Acres Methodist retirement home looks just like any other building - from the ground - but fly over it in a plane and its giant swastika outline is unmistakeable.

Now the agency that owns the US government-funded building in Decatur, Alabama, plans to alter its shape to disguise the Nazi symbol after fresh complaints.

The building has already undergone a £500,000 redesign following similar arguments from a US senator a few years ago.

"The difficulty is there are a limited number of options for fixing a building that has been there for some time," said Mike Giles, of the Methodist Homes Corporation of Alabama and Northwest Florida.

"We have to come up with a way to fix an appearance that we want solved and not hurt our residents."

Wesley Acres provides housing for 117 low income pensioners over the age of 62 - most of whom have no idea the hallways they walk each day form a sinister shape.

The one-storey building was designed in the 1970s and completed in 1980 before undergoing a £500,000 alteration in 2001.

But the addition of two wings seemed to accentuate its offensive shape rather than hide it.

The latest push to erase the broken cross shape follows complaints from researcher Avrahaum Segol who has also campaigned over what he has called its "sister swastika" building at a naval base in San Diego.

The Navy agreed to spend about £300,000 to alter the 1960s-built barracks.

Mr Segol, of Israeli-American descent, says both buildings were created as part of a government-funded conspiracy to honour Nazis.

He claims Wesley Acres is a homage to the German scientists who came to nearby Huntsville after World War II.

But Mr Giles dismissed his claim as ridiculous, insisting the building was originally designed to be much larger and cutbacks resulted in a shape that resembled the four-armed swastika.

"It was certainly not intentional," he said.

The symbol means much more than most filters allow?

The swastika (from Sanskrit svástika स्वस्तिक ) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing or left-facing forms. The swastika can also be drawn as a traditional swastika, but with a second 90° bend in each arm.

Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period. An ancient symbol, it occurs mainly in the cultures that are in modern day India and the surrounding area, sometimes as a geometrical motif and sometimes as a religious symbol. It has long been widely used in major world religions such as Hinduism, Roman Catholicism, Buddhism and Jainism.

The swastika was appropriated as a Nazi symbol and gained further association with the Third Reich as the Reich gained influence. Though once commonly used over much of the world without stigma, over time the symbol has become a controversial motif, especially in the Western world.

Origins of the Swastika. [link to history1900s.about.com]

I realize it was adopted by the Nazi's for a different purpose than it was originally intended.

Re: SKY NEWS! Outrage Over 'Swastika' Designed US Government Building.
A swastika is a geometric symbol made of two intersecting, straight-backed Z’s at 45° angles to each other. The swastika is sometimes referred to as a cross with broken arms. Though it's been recorded throughout history as a spiritual good omen, it is most notably known in the West as the Nazi Party symbol.

It might be surprising to learn that swastika is not a German word, but Sanskrit. Sanskrit is an ancient Indian language, and the word translates to a little something that brings good luck or well-being. The swastika is considered an auspicious symbol that might be worn on the clothes or body, similar to the Irish four-leaf clover. Co-opted by the German Nazi Party of World War II as a national emblem of Aryan pride, the swastika became a hated symbol in the West, where its benign ancient roots remain overshadowed.

Adolph Hitler’s adoption of the swastika was not totally without premise. The Nazi Party subscribed to the then-popular Aryan Invasion Theory, which held that Nordic peoples of Europe or Central Asia invaded and conquered India one to three millennia before the birth of Christ. The Nazis believed these Indo-Germanic peoples to be the original pure white or master Aryan race, and India to be the birthplace of civilization. Philologist William Jones of the late 18th century even suggested that Sanskrit, Greek and Latin might have come from an original Indo-Germanic language, now lost to the world. These Aryan associations appealed to Adolph Hitler, and the swastika unfortunately became irrevocably intertwined with genocide and racial hatred.

Modern day hate groups in the West continue to use the swastika as a symbol for neo-Nazism, racial purity, gender purity and proactive hate mongering. Some of these hate groups are closely associated with fringe militia groups, loosely organized civilian armies that hate government, which they see as destroying the white race through supporting racial equality.

In India and other nations, the swastika remains a positive religious symbol, true to its roots. It is often depicted on celebration cakes, in motifs and tile designs, and in basket weaving, paintings and jewelry.
