I've been very happy to read in your posts that you take care of yourself.... you younguns need to, or else you've got an ass whippin' coming in a couple of decades....

Heh, take it from one who now knows, who didn't know, and always thought I was going to be the picture perfect vision of health, living forevah!

I hear that... My mom isn't doing so well and I've been pushing her towards healthier lifestyle choices but she's her own person.

It's really difficult to watch but supposedly she's responding well to the chemo.

I'm in a weird spot right now with all of it because I don't think anyone is actually prepared to watch someone go through that.

I know you are having your own issues and I feel the same way about it.

It's not easy to know how to talk to someone going through shit like that.

Thank you Flash and all who have taken the time to reply, even those who have replied with attacks. The housing market is becoming tight and the free rent they are providing me with is a blessing for which I thank them.

It's not congestive heart failure, instead a 95% coronary arterial blockage; I may have been weeks from death. It was corrected through surgery and arterial stents. All other males in my family have died at age forty. I have made it to my sixties, God surely has other plans for this life.

The issue that has most affected me is the damaging effect of statin medications for cholesterol. They left me incontinent and unable to walk. The statins were replaced with an injectable non statin, Repatha, which while bringing my LDL cholesterol down from 57 to 3 had other effects. Unfortunately, it also made me unable to walk or drive a vehicle behind muscle spasms or musculature issues preventing use of my legs. Just try walking to the bathroom when you pee yourself seconds after standing--not fun at all!

As for my 'evil' wife; I forgive her and am being more understanding and forgiving than ever in our marriage. She hasn't done well behind our move to a new home in King William County, VA and has taken it out on me. Yes, I was and remain quite disappointed in how she has treated me, but with forgiveness and greater understanding is how we should respond to the attacks of loved ones.

As for leaving quickly, well I've just no such desire and would return yet again anyway; there is no escape.

Interesting reply about my wife and my cats, she wants for nothing. She quit a $54K / year job because the new boss was abusive towards her. I now pay for her truck, phone, and all hobby and craft needs. She is quite talented at creating chain mail, 'anyone know a Knight that needs new mail?

My kitties receive the best care and were just to the vet this week for their quarterly tune-up and exam. One has an allergy, but he is now much better behind proper condition management. Both are fleas treated as despite being inside only cats, they somehow have become flea afflicted.

Thoughts are w/ you, sir. If you're on statins, you might think about adding CoQ10 to your daily pill routine. It helps since our bodies need it as we age.

Nutrition-wise: My husband spent a month eating a cup of old fashioned rolled oats, a can of black beans, and whey protein shakes. His cholesterol profile went from bad to great (I don’t know the numbers from the blood work.)

Louis, it's such a good thing they put the stent in before you had a heart attack. Had I of not gotten to the ER quickly while I was having a heart attack, there would've been permanent damage. I had about less than an hour to spare until permanent damage would've started....the ER crew was working on me so fast and so furiously to get me into the cath lab to have the stent put in....100% occluded main artery, massive heart attack. So much not fun, people.

I'm so fortunate I dialed 911....so very fortunate, because no permanent damage done to my heart muscle.

It only takes three hours from the onset of a heart attack to begin causing permanent damage to your heart.

If you're older, then think deeply about this....CoQ 10 has been proven to be an excellent aide in heart health, and if you are having a heart attack DO NOT RIDE IT OUT....just don't. Get to the ER fast.
