The story at the following link gives some additional details: [link to abcnews.go.com (secure)] The dogs are described as "mixed breed," although the picture of the dogs sure looks like a picture of pit bulls. The owner was among the neighbors pulling the dogs off the mail carrier, which might be why the neighbor didn't shoot the dogs. The owner was probably warning the neighbor not to shoot his dogs. In the last three years the sheriff's office was called to that neighborhood on animal-related calls, with "at least two" of those previous calls related to that same address.
