Betelgeuse (pronounced Bay-tell-gice) is a giant red star, it is variable and has always been a supernova candidate. If it does go supernova, we'll be just fine, thanks. It will brighten up and put on a cool light show, then dim and become another interesting nebula, such as M1, the "Crab Nebula" another supernova remnant. |
