Re: Star has doubled in size and magnitude over one month
Orion's Belt or the Belt of Orion, also known as the Three Kings or Three Sisters, is an asterism in the constellation Orion. It consists of the three bright stars Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. Looking for Orion's Belt is the easiest way to locate Orion in the night sky

if you don't know O'rion's belt, maybe you shouldn't be starting a thread like this....hiding

Re: Star has doubled in size and magnitude over one month
The "Seven Sisters" is a nickname for the open star cluster, the Pleiades. Betelgeuse (pronounced Bay-tell-gice) is a giant red star, it is variable and has always been a supernova candidate. If it does go supernova, we'll be just fine, thanks. It will brighten up and put on a cool light show, then dim and become another interesting nebula, such as M1, the "Crab Nebula" another supernova remnant.

Did you ever post coordinates?

And she abandons thread when Astromut shows up. How convenient.
